The Award ceremony was held at Uhuru TVET Grounds in Burat ward graced by Isiolo County Assembly Speaker Hon. Mohamed Roba Qoto.

A total of 100 youths across the 10 wards in Isiolo County have been awarded scholarships to undertake different technical courses in select public and private TVET institutions across the County. The project is funded by Safaricom Foundation and implemented through Catholic Relief Services , Caritas Isiolo and County Government of Isiolo .

Isiolo County Assembly Speaker, Hon Mohamed Roba applauded the youth empowerment initiative and made committment in ensuring the completion of the Kinna TVET centre and continuous infrastructural improvement of the existing 3 TVET institutions across the county. He also committed to support an addittional 20 youths to undertake the technical courses at Uhuru TVET.

Caritas Isiolo Director, Mr. James Galagalo applauded the Wezesha team for maintaining proffesionalism and accountablity during the vetting process with 445 apllications received and only 100 youths successfully vetted and selected through the rigourous process. He emphasised on the need to also focus on the 345 vulnerable youths that applied and did not make it through the vetting process and many more that did not apply. Through the support of County government and partners we hope to accomplish and bridge this huge gap.

CRS Isiolo Head of Office, Mr. Thomas Musyoki in his speech on behalf of CRS and Safaricom Foundation noted that the project will in a great way compliment the gains made from the youth empowerement program implemented through the CRS led USAID Nawiri Project where more than 200 youths across the Nawiri 6 hotspot wards have benefitted with technical skill and startup kits. Mr. Musyoki also noted that there was a co-investment oppportunity between Wezesha Vijana project and the County Government of Isiolo for infrastructural improvement of the TVET institutions across the County that can be tapped into.
